Catherine Verrier Piersol, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA
Chair & Professor, Dept. of Occupational Therapy, and Co-founder & Director, Jefferson Elder Care @College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Thomas Jefferson University
Dr. Piersol is a professor and Chair in the Dept. of Occupational Therapy at Thomas Jefferson Univ. She was on the faculty at Philadelphia Univ. for 10 years prior to coming to Jefferson in 2008. As a licensed occupational therapist, educator, and researcher, she is dedicated to the implementation of person-environment approaches that promote activity engagement and quality of life for elders and caregivers. She is Co-founder and Director of Jefferson Elder Care, a program focused on the implementation of evidence-based service and training programs that provide home-based therapy, agency consultation, and specialized training in dementia care. Dr. Piersol has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and is co-author of “A Caregiver’s Guide to Dementia: Using Activities and Strategies to Prevent, Reduce and Manage Behavioral Symptoms” and “Occupational Therapy Practice Guidelines for Adults with Alzheimer’s Disease and Major Neurocognitive Disorders,” published by the AOTA.
